Emergency money scam guide
What to do if you sent money to a possible scammer.
If you already sent money, the priority is speed and evidence. Do not argue with the person, do not send extra fees, and do not follow links they send after the payment.
First 15 minutes
- Open the official bank, card, PayPal, transfer service or exchange channel and report the transaction.
- Ask specifically about blocking, chargeback, recall, fraud dispute or account protection.
- Change passwords if account access, codes or login links were involved.
- Keep screenshots and transaction references before the scammer deletes messages.
What not to do
Do not pay recovery agents, unlock fees, taxes, courier fees or extra deposits without independent verification. Many scams continue after the first payment by promising that one more payment will fix everything.
