Account takeover warning
Shared a verification code? Treat it as account access risk.
Verification codes are often used to enter WhatsApp, email, bank, marketplace, delivery, crypto or social accounts. If someone asked for a code by chat, assume the request may be fraudulent until verified independently.
Immediate steps
- Open the official app or website directly and check active sessions.
- Change the password if the account uses one.
- Enable or reset two-factor authentication.
- Contact official support if access changed, payments appeared or messages were sent from your account.
Watch for follow-up pressure
Scammers may ask for another code, say the first one failed, or claim they are helping recover your account. Do not send any more codes.
What to send for review
Send the message that requested the code, the platform name and what happened after sharing it. Do not send the actual code or passwords.
